Have you ever wondered how an area that’s sustained major water damage gets dry again? It’s with the help of some high-powered, water restoration fans. Different types of fans are used depending on the type and extent of water damage that has occurred. These powerful air circulators are often stackable and can be connected while offering multiple positioning options for effective drying.
Axial Air Movers
Most residential fans and certain industrial and water damage restoration fans use an axial blade configuration (the blades are facing the same direction as the airflow created.) Axial fans are constant air movers and operate at high volume. They are especially effective for use in smaller water damage restoration projects.
Also known as snail blower fans, due to their snail-like shape, these fans create a higher pressure than axial fans, which is useful for ducted drying purposes when it’s necessary to move air outside an enclosed space. Centrifugal fans are typically used for larger water damage restoration projects.
Downdraft Restoration Fans
Downdraft Fans send airflow directly beneath them onto hard floors or carpeted areas for very fast moisture removal in small spaces. They pull warm, dry air from the room, directing airflow out in all directions. This type of fan is especially useful in cabinets, closets, and underneath hard-to-move furniture.
Low Profile Air Movers
Low Profile air movers provide high-velocity air in a compact, low-profile design. They’re perfect for tight or hard-to-reach spaces. Most models have multiple operating positions that allow airflow to move at an angle, making them great for drying out lower wall spaces, stairways, and ceilings.
Floor and Cavity Drying Fans
These are the big guns that you bring out for major water damage to floors, walls, and underneath cabinets. They feature multiple hoses that attach to the main unit to remove moisture from water-logged walls and ceilings. Using warm, highly pressurized air to reach into structural cavities and spaces, these drying systems are a sure way to remove all moisture quickly.
